Meeting Sandra Hagelstam of 5inchandup.com recently was like bumping into a college friend. I had heard her speak at a few events before and I always thought she was really approachable, and that she was! Smiling away with her camera and her stunning Celine shoes(don’t know how you do it girl!), Sandra is the girl next door both on and off her blog(Albeit a very stylish Girl next door)!
If you ever spot her on the streets for her street style blog “The Neighbourhood watch” or outside Fashion Weeks, you must observe her while she is taking pictures. She dives likes a swan to get her self in a position to get her shot. Her footworks, (including the shoes) are a sight!
Here are some of my pictures of her taken recently.
I just made a quick video of the above images to try my hand at Vlogging!
I know I have been AWOL for a while, and I will thank LDNBloggers for that! It is always a joy and struggle when you start something new!
Like this blog,Trendbridged!
Wordpress.com just sent me my 2nd birthday card, and it made me squeal like a teenage girl (not very different from my usual squeal!) I remember when I started TB, I was always out and about capturing images, cribbing how big the camera was and that I will never carry it again, and the day when it wasnt with me, I was cribbing why the camera is not with me!
My regular readers must know ,that it was Scott Schuman’s website The Sartorialist is what inspired me to start Trendbridged.com, and I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting him last year at Fashion Week.
In the 5 minute conversation (First 2 went in me finding my voice to say Hello!!) he said things which made me want to do more with Trendbridged.com. He shared tips to click better images, what he looks out for in a shot, what lens he uses, that Garance was joining him after her Lunch before they head into a show, and how to KEEP ON clicking pictures to get better pictures!
That was the day I wanted to do so much more with TB!
Well this LFW I saw Scott walk past us (I was chatting with Yvan Rodic and The Sophie Lear of Face Hunter and The littlest things) and I could not resist clicking him in action, only curious to see what the final image would look like. So here it is guys!

And this is my picture of him clicking the above picture.
Work in Progress
Who inspires you to be better at what yo do? I would love to know!
It was great bumping into fellow blogger Chris,at London Collections. I met Chris late last year at a few events and then again at our last London Bloggers Meetup at Bumpkin Notting Hill.
It was a quite a contrasting mix at LCM this year, there was the quintessential Sartorial Dandy look, and on the other side you had a HUGE urban-street Cool Shoreditch look which was seen across the 3 days. For me that is London, the contrast between the East London Urban and West London Sauve coming together to make London Fashion Scene so distinct.
In my career as a Fashion DesignerI have had the pleasure and privilege to work with a few Menswear brands, both urban and tailored, and I must admit I do have a bias towards the sartorial look.
I had a quick chat with Dan Kenny from Idol Magazine who was dressed to the T, in a textured wool navy suit and polka dot tie. What I loved was how his orange socks matched the LCM pin. But the cake was taken away by the little golden Collar Pin.
I remember growing up to my Mom (who was a teacher in the same school as my sister and I) getting home with us,only to switch on the tele to get a sneak preview of Pierce Brosnan in Remington Steele, and thats the first thing I thought of when I saw the Collar pin. Suave!
As you can see all my last few posts have been quick one liner of the street style images of London Collections, held from 6th-9th January 2013 at the Hospital Club, Covent Garden.
I came across Sibling for the first time at the London Fashion Week few seasons ago, and loved their distinct chunky knits in vibrant colours with textures which just explodes in front of you and you are trying to figure out in your head..it is so them..yet so different!
I loved what Santi Rodriguez was wearing, the bright red Lion face jumper with a neutral coat.It was cozy, urban and colourful to just cheer all of us waiting outside for a splash of colour, and the splash of colour we got! for a grey day like today this jumper was the perfect conversation starter! We even had a few men on bikes to stop and ask..”Why are you being clicked?” This is exactly why I love London!
Anyway Sibling had their show late today at 7:00 p.m. and with their chunky Snoods and oversized Cabled Gloves, I can safely say they did it again! Worked their Sibling charm!
Love the multi pattern jumper, perfect Christmas Jumper for me!The emphasise on oversized accessories can not be missed, starting from the scarves, the gloves and the nice chunky Beanie!
Well this one ideally should go under the London Collections Tag, but these chaps were on their way back to office from the gym, crossing the Hospital Club, when I spotted them, Which initiated a whole range of paparazzis style street shutter bugs starting behind me, so Brad and Colin if you guys have your pictures plastered in street style images, you know what to do:)
If only Lunch-time workouts always end up like this?
Sofia Sanchez Barrenchea has been popping up my radar through various researches. She is a New York based Argentinian Creative Director and Graphic designer for various brands.
I actually spotted her through my research for unique local designers and came across this brilliant website called UnderOurSky. A website promoting Argentinian Designers. Upon researching I came across, the website is owned by three sisters, Sofia,Lucia and Catalina. All of them based in 3 different cities: New York, Paris and Buenos Aires.Lucia, a CSM graduate has interned worked with Balenciaga,Isabel Marant, and many more so Fashion is running in the core of this sister trio.
Sofia Sanchez works on ensuring the designers from her home country reaches beyond geographical boundaries (something I always work with on trendbridged.com) thus UnderOurSky.com was born.
Her style is not run of the mill, and actually quite hard to nail, but I know she chooses comfort over style most of the time (I like) and wears no to minimal makeup most days unless meeting someone. (With that natural dewy skin, I would never wear makeup! Click here for Dewy Makeup Tutorial). Special attention to the well-defined brows.
You can see influences of eclectic and patterns with rugged leather jacket and statement shoes which is quite out there and on the other side, there is a classic monochrome look in a white shirt and black cape.
A quick thank you to all who attended the 2nd London Fashion Bloggers meetup. I have attached the images in this gallery for you to have a quick view.
Huge Thank you to Danielle and the rest of the Bumpkin team for being such great hosts and providing us with delicious canapés,Leyla for being a great photographer and capturing all the best parts of the night and also Jeanography, Colin Leslie Eyewear and Gemlettuce for the amazing prizes they gave to our GoCollab winners. A special mention to Kukee for the little goodies they offered to all the guests.
With Travis Lee Street giving a great chat on how to monetize your Blog’s content most of us were buzzing with all that information for a few weeks after. You can have a link of the presentation and some more tips on his blog here.
I have started to organize my next meetup and would love to see all you guys from last time and new faces come to our next meetup on 22nd January. Please register on ldnbloggers.eventbrite.com if interested.
I have been following Peony Lim’s blog since I started blogging last year.
As an avid Blog-yeur (A person who loves to see other people blog), I spent the first few months of my blogging lifetime just observing what other bloggers were doing, and Peony, Caroline from Caroline’s World, Hedvig of The Northern Light were always inspirational with their unique styles.
Now if you follow my blog, you would know that I rather be behind the camera than in front,so I have a lot of respect for these ladies to look great in most of their pictures!
I went to the Grazia Live event in September where Peony was on the panel of Masterclass talking about how to take great Pictures, and she was a joy to listen to!
Starting her blog, by chance this Fashion Promotion student was encouraged by other street style photographers outside Somerset House (where her university was strategically based and was always clicked by other photographers) and thus the birth of peonylim.blogspot.
Always well styled and quite classic, I like how Peony brightens up a basic pair of jeans with accessories, like the Lavender Pom-Poms to her phone and clutch or the Linda Farrow Minnie Mouse Glasses with a classic Black-white outfit! (images below).
Her wardrobe staples usually include a Classic White Shirt, Red Lipstick and Classic Pumps. How versatile, and that is exactly how each of her looks are like. Edited to perfection yet versatile enough to go for high tea or a girls night out!
Well this is probably my last post before Christmas, so a MERRY CHRISTMAS you all!!
The first time I spotted Justin O’Shea was in the Sartorialist back in February 2011. I had just moved to London and had started Trendbridged.com then, and all I was hoping to do was spot Justin O’Shea casually walking around Covent Garden and click some great candid shots of him!!
Of course, since then everyone from Le 21em, to Citizen Couture to Phil Oh have had the pleasure of clicking some great shots of him!
Justin O’Shea was born and raised in a small Aussie Aboriginal town and upon moving to London, found his true calling! Being the worldwide Buying Director for Mytheresa.com, you can spot him globe-trotting during the Fashion Week season.
He is the perfect Biker-does-Saville-Row style, with his well-tailored (often if not) 3- piece suits, teamed with a printed shirt, showing a snippet of his ink playing a peek a boo! I love how he can team up the the vest and jacket from one set with trousers of another.I am usually never fond of half sleeves shirt on men, (My rule being If Hot,Suck it up or Roll it up),but he does the quarter sleeve just right (Of course being fit has a huge role to play!)
P.s: Special attention to the metal capped burgundy boots (Also featured in the video below).
Anyway, Thus presenting Justin O’Shea:
If this is not enough to woo you, I found this video by BeefEater with the #MyLondon campaign. It shows snippets of London, just the way it is..Beautiful!
Click LIKE if you find his style inspirational!
